Kenya Tour Overview
Join me on an epic adventure in Kenya and let me show you a different side of Africa, not the Africa you see in the media but the adventurous, beautiful, wild and real Africa I know and love.
Kenya is an incredible country to discover with beautiful landscapes, friendly people, world class safari and some of the most beautiful beaches you’ve ever laid eyes on!
Rock My Adventure tours are culturally immersive trips created by me to show you a rounded portrayal of the countries we visit and leave you with a new group of like-minded friends and beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
I work with the best local operators to provide you with the highly personalised African adventure you’ve always dreamed of but without the hassle of planning it all yourself!
Rock My Adventures aren’t typical ‘tours’. They’re fun and laid-back group trips, that are similar to an independent backpacking trip, but with some free time to explore and do your own thing and a group of friends built in – the best of both worlds!

“I had the best time ever on the trip & it was so much fun traveling with you! It was everything I had hoped for and more! It 100% met my expectations. I love the fact that your trips are more unique than a normal tour operator. I enjoyed being taken out of my comfort zone in some places and seeing some really different sides of Kenya. I enjoyed the fact that we were made to feel so at home everywhere we went and I’m sure that was helped by the fact you’ve obviously created a lot of meaningful friendships in the country during your time travelling there. It felt like we got a more unique experience than you would get with usual tour operator. I think you make a fantastic guide and your passion for the country definitely shows and adds to the experience.” (Sarah, UK – Rock My Kenya Adventure 2017)
Kenya Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to your accommodation for the night. Relax and get to know your fellow travellers during a welcome meal and a beer or two at our lovely campsite! Your Rock My Kenya Adventure starts here. Karibu Kenya!
* If you have the time and can arrive earlier, I can organise any other activities you wish to do. Additional accommodation and activities charged separately.
Day 2: Nairobi
We’ll spend our first full day easing into life in Kenya and getting on Nairobi time.
In the morning, we’ll take a visit to see the baby elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and you’ll have the chance to kiss a giraffe at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (don’t worry, their spit is anti-septic).
Then in the afternoon we’ll have some free time to do a bit of shopping at the local Maasai market and relax by the pool before we head off into the Masai Mara for a few days on safari.
In the evening we’ll go for dinner at one of Nairobi’s best restaurants, Carnivore (vegetarian options available).
Day 3: Masai Mara
We’ll depart from Nairobi and head towards the world famous Masai Mara for our safari. On the way we’ll take in the views of the magnificent Great Rift Valley and stop for lunch in the town of Narok, before heading to our lovely camp just a few kilometres outside the Masai Mara gate.
In the evening, we’ll relax around the campfire and under the stars at our campsite.
Day 4: Masai Mara
On day 4 we’ll jump in our safari vehicle and spend a full day looking for the Big 5.
At lunch we’ll picnic in the wild under the shade of an acacia tree.
That evening, we’ll spend the night in our very own, self-made bush camp inside the Masai Mara, listening to hyenas cackle, elephants trumpets and lions roar as we drift off to sleep. That’s right, we’re totally in the wild.
But don’t worry, our Maasai warrior guides will protect us!
Day 5: Masai Mara
Today we’re back in the safari vehicle to spot more of the wildlife.
So you have a great chance of spotting the ‘Big Five’ – lion, elephant, buffalo and the elusive black rhino and leopard.
In the evening we’ll head back to the main camp to wash off the safari dust and enjoy an amazing bbq dinner of nyama choma and other traditional Kenyan dishes.
Day 6: Masai Mara
Early in the morning, those who want to can take an optional hot air ballon ride over the Masai Mara. This is a wonderful chance to see the epic landscape from the air and you may even see a few animals too!
It’s followed by a champagne breakfast by the Mara River.
When the ballooners return, we’ll spend the day with Maasai friends, going on a guided walk, visiting the local school (term time only), playing with the children and having lunch in the village. This is always a super fun day and one that you’ll never forget.
That evening we’ll go out for dinner and some drinks in one of the restaurant/bars in the nearby township of Sekenani. You won’t find any other tourists here!
Day 7: Nairobi
Following a leisurely breakfast and a whole host of sad goodbyes as we leave the Mara (believe me, EVERYONE loves it here), we willmake our way back to Nairobi, again passing over the incredible Great Rift Valley as we go.
In the evening, there will be some free time and those who want to can head out to one of my favourite bars to have some dinner and watch live music performed by a local Nairobi band!
Day 8: Nairobi
We’ll spend today exploring Nairobi and I’ll take you to a few of my favourite spots in the city!
I want to show you the ‘other’ sides of Nairobi, the real Nairobi that most tourists miss!
In the evening we’ll try some of the best Ethiopian food outside of Ethiopia and those who want to can sample the Nairobi nightlife.
Day 9: Kilifi
Early in the morning we’ll board the brand new Nairobi to Mombasa train.
The new train is a great experience, super comfortable and last time I took the train we played spot the elephants as we passed through save National Park. we saw 13 different herds!
Arriving in Mombasa, we’ll head towards the laid back town of Kilifi where we’ll spend the next 2 nights.
That the evening, we’ll walk through the beautiful villages of the Giriama people (usually followed by a bunch of super cute kids), where we’ll have dinner and sunset drinks at my friend Saidi’s house overlooking stunning Kilifi Creek.
Day 10: Kilifi
Today we’ll head up the coast to Watamu where we’ll go stand up paddle boarding. This is an awesome activity in an awesome location, suitable for everyone. You may even spot some dolphins.
If there’s time when we get back, you may want to wander round town, take a boda boda (motorbike) tour and go to Bofa Beach, sample the food at the local restaurants or just lie in a hammock with a cold Tusker in hand – whatever you feel like!
We’ll be staying right near the beach, and if you venture down there in the evening, you might be lucky to see some of the bioluminescence in the water. A truly magical experience!
Kilifi also has some great bars, so if nightlife is your thing, you’re all set.
Day 11: Diani Beach
Today we’ll make our way towards the white sands of Diani Beach, right on the Indian Ocean.
On the way we’ll stop for lunch at an incredible spot with stunning views over Shimba Hills.
We’ll have a chilled out evening tonight as we’re up early tomorrow for a full day of fun!
Day 12: Diani Beach
We’re up early today to head towards Shimoni for a snorkelling (or diving at an additional cost) and dolphin spotting trip to Wasini Island and Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park, close to the Tanzanian border.
Our traditional dhow takes us into the marine park where we have the chance to spot a whole host of marine life at the coral reef. We’ll snorkel in two different place and there’s a good chance we’ll see grouper, octopus, stingwrays, starfish and parrot fish!
We’ll have a delicious Swahili lunch on Wasini Island (with 2 alcoholic drinks and all soft drinks included throughout the day) and get a chance to explore a little bit of the island.
Day 13: Diani Beach
Our last day in Diani is a free day to hang out at the pool, take a camel ride down the beach, shop for souvenirs in the local market or if you’re feeling active, try your hand at one of the many activities on offer.
Some people like to go sky diving at Diani beach, as it’s one of the most beautiful places on the planet to do it, overlooking the entire Swahili Coast and the landing spot is right on the beach!
So those of us that aren’t brave enough to do it (like me) can watch from the comfort of our own beach towels.
Day 14: Mombasa
Leaving Diani Beach, we’ll head back to Mombasa.
We’ll explore the city on a walking tour. We’ll visit a number of the major attractions in the city, including the Mombasa arches, the old town and markets and Fort Jesus.
There will be free time in the afternoon so that those who want to can do a little bit of last minute shopping and those who don’t can lay by the pool topping up their tan!
In the evening we’ll go out for a delicious goodbye dinner at a top Mombasa restaurant and afterwards, you can take in some of the famous Mombasa nightlife (just try not to have too much fun and miss your plane the next day)!
Day 15: Departure Day
Today is always a sad day as we say goodbye to our new friends (there’s usually a few tears, I will warn you), but the memories and shared experiences will last a lifetime!
I can arrange the transfer to Mombasa Airport or you can continue your Africa travels from there.

“Everything was amazing! I learned so many things!” (Oana, Switzerland)
“It was an amazing trip from start to end. I loved every moment and made friends for life.” (Debbie, UK)
“Africa is not always the easiest place to travel around, and after 3 months of backpacking I was all ready to give my brain a break from travel planning, so it was definitely a relief to have Helen come in and manage all that! I like her tour because it fit me – it was a small group tour, just 8 of us which is a nice number to make new friends and get to know everyone yet have our own thing, and it was a good mix of fancier stuff and indie backpacking. You just might see us on the next tours because we are all game for round 2 with Helen! Definitely a 5 star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!“ (Jac, Singapore)
“I’ve a lot to thank my African adventure for, it truely did help me find myself and has given me the confidence to just go see the world. I never wanted to leave!!! You’ll have the most amazing experience!!!” (Karen, UK)
“It was a great introduction into Africa travel, before I set out solo travelling. Also as I traveled solo and shared experiences in Kenya with people I was meeting, I sounded like a seasoned solo traveler thanks to you. I did not know what to expect but I think I understand Kenya pretty well now. I think you were able to portray and pass on your infectious love of Kenya to us all and I am forever grateful! Asante!” (Christina, USA)
