Botswana & Victoria Falls Overview & Itinerary

17 – 29 August 2025

Travel through the heart of Botswana & into Zimbabwe on a magical safari and immersive journey. Botswana is home to the best safari destinations in the world, so you won’t be disappointed.

You’ll start in Maun, Botswana, before we make our way to the world-famous Okavango Delta.

From there you’ll hang out with meerkats and sleep out under the stars on the Makgadikgadi Pan and visit the famous Elephant Sands lodge where you’ll see elephants up close and personal.

The penultimate stop is the incredible Chobe National Park and then the trip ends in Vic Falls, Zimbabwe home to the mighty Victoria Falls and the Devil’s Pool.

Devil's Pool Zambia

Day 1: Maun, Botswana

Arrive in Maun and transfer to your accommodation for the night.

Relax and get to know your fellow travellers during a welcome meal and a beer or two! Your Rock My Botswana & Victoria Falls Adventure starts here!

Maun is easily accessible by air from Johannesburg or Cape Town.

Okavango Delta Botswana

Day 2: The Okavango Delta, Botswana

From Maun, we’ll make our way into the Okavango Delta. When we arrive, our camp will be set up ready for us to relax and enjoy our surroundings.

‘The Delta’ is the world’s largest inland river delta and a UNESCO World Heritage site, formed when seasonal water flowing from the Angolan highlands creates a flood that produces channels and islands that transform the environment into one of the most unique and beautiful landscapes on earth.

This part of Botswana is home to an abundance of wildlife including, elephants, wild dogs, hippo, lions, and zebra.

Day 3: The Okavango Delta, Botswana

In the morning, we’ll head out on a bush walk with an experienced local guide.

This will give you the opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna of the area and there will be a chance to see animals such as giraffes, antelope, hippo and elephants. Which is a thrilling experience when travelling on foot.

In the afternoon, we’ll go on safari, explore the waterways and you will be able to try out your mokoro poling skills and swim in the Delta.

We’ll then return to camp to enjoy sundowners, watch the sunset and listen to the hippos grunting.

Day 4: Maun, Botswana

We’ll safari out of the Okavango and head back to Maun to refresh and regroup.

The afternoon is free to explore Maun, go shopping for beautiful and locally made arts and crafts or to take an optional scenic flight (plane or helicopter) over the Okavango Delta.

In the evening, we’ll enjoy dinner at a restaurant in town.

Sundowners In Botswana

Day 5: Gweta, Botswana

Today we’ll make our way to Gweta, on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.

In the afternoon, we’ll go on a guided walk through the baobab tree forest, allowing us to learn about the ecology and history of these majestic trees.

We’ll then enjoy sundowners and watch the sun set on another amazing day in Botswana.

Quad Biking Botswana

Day 6: Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, Botswana

The morning is free to relax by the pool or take an optional village tour.

In the afternoon, we’ll head out in our safari vehicle to hang out with the coolest residents of the desert, the Kalahari meerkats.

These mischievous creatures are habituated to humans, so don’t be surprised if they climb on you to get a better view over the landscape.

We’ll then jump on quad bikes (optional) to ride across Ntwetwe Pan, a salt pan in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.

We’ll watch the sunset over the pans, enjoy a traditional braai (bbq), watch the ‘Bush TV’ (the campfire) and sleep out under the spectacular starry skies in a mobile fly camp (mattresses under the stars – no tents). It’s a magical experience that you’ll never forget!

Day 7: Elephant Sands, Botswana

After an early morning tea or coffee around the campfire, we’ll watch the sunrise before we quad bike back to the lodge for breakfast. We’ll then leave Gweta to head to Elephant Sands, a lodge with a fantastic waterhole that is very popular with the local elephants.

Every day (and night) elephants and other animals visit the lodge to drink. The waterhole is visible from the pool, the bar or your room, so wherever you fancy hanging out, you’ll have a front-row seat. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the view, or take a dip in the swimming pool – your choice!

Day 8: Kasane, Botswana

The morning is free to have a lie in, relax, swim in the pool and watch the elephants or take part in one of the activities on offer at Elephant Sands, this includes game drives, bush walks and mountain biking.

After lunch, we’ll head to Kasane, the gateway to Chobe National Park, where we’ll have time to use the pool before we have dinner in town.

Day 9: Chobe National Park, Botswana

Today is an exciting day as we’re heading to Chobe National Park, which is home to up to 120,000 elephants!

We’ll start the day on a 3-hour boat cruise along the river and after lunch, we’ll go on a game drive through the park.

In the evening, we’ll head to our bush camp where our crew will prepare dinner and we will spend the night chatting around the campfire, watching the stars, and listening to the sounds of the African bush.

  • Activities: Chobe Boat Safari, Chobe National Park Safari, Bush Camping

Day 10: Vic Falls, Zimbabwe

We’ll be up at dawn for our safari. This is a great time of day to spot big cats or wild dogs when they are most active in the cool morning. 

We’ll then return to camp for a delicious bush brunch and an opportunity to take a refreshing shower and relax.

We’ll then game drive out of the park to Kasane before crossing the Kazungula border to our final destination, Vic Falls, Zimbabwe.

In the evening, we’ll enjoy dinner together at an incredible local restaurant where we can try various Zimbabwean foods.

Day 11: Vic Falls, Zimbabwe

In the morning we’ll visit the incredible Devil’s Pool (or Angel’s Pool if the water levels are too high for the Devil’s Pool). This is an amazing experience where you’ll get a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit and swim at the edge of Victoria Falls.

This is followed by a delicious brunch on Livingstone Island.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the stunningly beautiful Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side. There will be time to wander the paths, explore, and be wowed by this wonder of the natural world.

In the evening, those who want to can enjoy a group dinner together at a local restaurant.

Day 12: Vic Falls, Zimbabwe

Today is a free day for you to enjoy some of the amazing activities that Vic Falls has to offer.

These include white water rafting, taking a microlight/helicopter ride over the falls, bungee jumping, canoeing, cycling or another safari!

Or, if you’re feeling slightly less adventurous you may just want to chill by the pool, take a village tour, take a trip over to Zambia or visit a local craft market – it’s up to you!

In the evening we’ll say goodbye over a light dinner and drinks on a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.

Day 13: Departure Day

Today is always a sad day as we say goodbye to our new friends, but the memories and shared experiences of Botswana & Zimbabwe will last a lifetime!

We can arrange your transfer to Victoria Falls Airport* or you can continue your Africa travels from there.

* You can also fly out of Livingstone Airport in Zambia (just be aware that transfer times are longer and there’s a border crossing).
